Keep your bike at its best to prevent depreciation

keep-motorbikeWe all know how quickly our vehicles depreciate as soon as we drive them off of the lots. Motorcycles also, can depreciate more quickly if they are not properly cared for and maintained.

If you have a bike that you want to keep looking and running its best, lets discuss how to best ensure it stays that way.

Here are a few things you should constantly keep maintained and check on a regular basis:

Batteries: If you are not going to be riding your bike during the winter months, there are two things you can do. One, take it out and keep it stored in a warmer kept area.
Or, some bikers even go as far as to place it in a battery charger until your first spring ride.

Air Cleaners: Some pesky insects may choose your air cleaner as a safe haven through the winter months, be sure to completely clean it out every spring.

Spark Plugs: A very simple preventative task that only take a few minutes. Pull out the plugs and check them out before you head out and run into problems.

Belts and Chains: Whatever kind of drive you have, you need to make sure that everything is in proper working order and tightened.

Tires and Wheels: Check over your tires and wheels carefully. Look for any worn sports or cracks. Be sure your tire pressure is where it should be.

Cables: It is very possible to get condensation built up in your cables, to avoid rust make sure you check them out and add lubricant if necessary.

Lights: Keep all of your lights and controls working properly, and if you detect a problem, fix it before it gets worse.

Doing a few simple preventative measures such as these can help ensure the performance and value of your bike.
